The Book of Matthew

Matthew presents Jesus as the promised Messiah, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, and the true King whose coming fulfills Israel's Scriptures. From the opening genealogy to the Great Commission, the Gospel shows that Jesus is not a break from the Old Testament story but its fulfillment. He brings the kingdom of heaven near through His teaching, miracles, authority, death, and resurrection. Matthew is especially attentive to discipleship. Jesus does not merely gather admirers; He calls people to follow Him, obey His words, practice righteousness from the heart, forgive enemies, care for the vulnerable, and live as citizens of God's kingdom. The Sermon on the Mount, the parables, and the teaching on church life reveal what life under the Messiah's reign looks like. The Gospel reaches its climax in the cross and resurrection. The rejected King gives His life, rises with all authority in heaven and on earth, and sends His disciples to make disciples of all nations. Matthew moves from Israel's hope to worldwide mission, showing that the kingdom promised in Scripture now extends to every people through Jesus Christ.
