Caleb
“But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.”Numbers 14:24
Biography
Caleb was one of the twelve spies sent to scout Canaan, and with Joshua one of only two who gave a faith-filled report urging Israel to take the land. God promised him that the very land his feet had walked would be his inheritance. At age 85, after 40 years of wilderness wandering, he asked for the most difficult mountain terrain — where the giant Anakites still lived — claiming it for the Lord. He drove them out and settled Hebron.
Spiritual Lesson
Caleb's 'different spirit' — total wholehearted devotion to God — is a model for every believer regardless of age. He did not coast in his old age but pressed in for new territory. At 85 he declared, 'I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me.' Faith and courage remain essential to the very end of life.
