Gideon

The Lord answered, 'I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.'Judges 6:16

Biography

Gideon was the least son of the weakest clan in Manasseh, yet God chose him to deliver Israel from Midianite oppression. He twice asked God for confirming signs before accepting his call. God then deliberately reduced his army from 32,000 to 300 men, to ensure that Israel could not credit the victory to human strength. With torches, clay jars, and trumpets, Gideon's 300 men routed an army of 135,000.

Spiritual Lesson

Gideon teaches us that God deliberately chooses the weak and few so that no human can claim the glory. The reduction of his army is perhaps the Bible's clearest declaration that divine victory does not depend on human resource. Our insufficiency is not a disqualification — it is exactly the context where God loves to reveal his strength.
