Isaac

Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and increase your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.Genesis 26:24

Biography

Isaac was the child of promise, born to Abraham and Sarah in their old age. His name means 'laughter.' As a young man, he submitted to his father Abraham on Mount Moriah, becoming a type of Christ through his willingness to be sacrificed. He later married Rebekah and fathered twins Esau and Jacob. Isaac was a man of peace — he reopened the wells his father had dug rather than fighting over land, modeling a non-contentious spirit.

Spiritual Lesson

Isaac's quiet, yielded life speaks powerfully. He did not fight for his rights but trusted God's provision. His submission on the altar, his pursuit of peace with neighbors, and his steady faithfulness to the covenant show that faithfulness often looks less dramatic than we expect. His life points ahead to the Son who would willingly go to the cross.
