Moses

Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.Deuteronomy 34:10

Biography

Moses was the great deliverer and lawgiver of Israel. Born a Hebrew but raised in Pharaoh's palace, he fled to Midian after killing an Egyptian. At the burning bush, God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt. He confronted Pharaoh with ten plagues, parted the Red Sea, received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, and led the Israelites through 40 years in the wilderness. Scripture calls him the meekest man on earth, and he spoke with God 'face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.'

Spiritual Lesson

Moses shows that God can use the broken, the stuttering, the fugitive for his greatest purposes. His intimacy with God — forged through prayer, suffering, and intercession — is a model of what it means to know God rather than just know about him. His willingness to stand in the gap for Israel, even offering his own soul for their sake, foreshadows Christ's intercession.
