Samson
“Then Samson prayed to the Lord, 'Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more.'”Judges 16:28
Biography
Samson was consecrated as a Nazirite from birth and given extraordinary physical strength by the Holy Spirit to deliver Israel from Philistine oppression. He killed a lion with his bare hands, slew 1,000 Philistines with a donkey's jawbone, and carried away the gates of Gaza. His great weakness was his susceptibility to manipulation, especially by Delilah, who betrayed the secret of his strength. Blinded and imprisoned, Samson prayed one final prayer and brought down the Philistine temple, killing more in his death than during his lifetime.
Spiritual Lesson
Samson's story is a sobering warning about the destructive power of uncontrolled desires — but also a story of redemption in the final chapter. His greatest victory came after his greatest failure. His last prayer — 'Remember me, O Lord' — was answered. God does not abandon even those who have squandered their gifts, and sincere repentance opens the door to renewed purpose.
