雅各书第4章
概览
雅各把教会的争斗追溯到其真正的根源：「你们百体中战斗之私欲」（4:1）。他们贪恋却得不着，斗殴争战，却得不着，是因为不求——或者求也得不着，是因为妄求，要浪费在宴乐中（4:2-3）。接着他升至全书最尖锐的指控：「你们这些淫乱的人哪，岂不知与世俗为友就是与神为敌吗？」（4:4）。但责备之后随即是怜悯：神「切切地恋爱」我们，「赐更多的恩典」，因为「神阻挡骄傲的人，赐恩给谦卑的人」（4:5-6）。在这枢纽上，雅各发出一连串十个短促的命令——顺服神、抵挡魔鬼、亲近神、洁净你们的手、悲哀、自卑（4:7-10）——这是悔改的呼召，并应许神必叫谦卑下来的人升高。接着他禁止彼此批评、论断弟兄，因为设立律法和判断人的只有一位（4:11-12）。最后他责备那些自以为是地筹算「今天明天我们要往某城里去」（4:13）的商人，提醒他们的生命「不过是一片云雾，出现少时就不见了」（4:14）；他们应当说「主若愿意」（4:15），并要知道人若知道行善却不去行，这就是他的罪（4:17）。
1你 们 中 间 的 争 战 斗 殴 是 从 那 里 来 的 呢 ？ 不 是 从 你 们 百 体 中 战 斗 之 私 欲 来 的 麽 ？From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2你 们 贪 恋 ， 还 是 得 不 着 ； 你 们 杀 害 嫉 妒 ， 又 斗 殴 争 战 ， 也 不 能 得 。 你 们 得 不 着 ， 是 因 为 你 们 不 求 。Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3你 们 求 也 得 不 着 ， 是 因 为 你 们 妄 求 ， 要 浪 费 在 你 们 的 宴 乐 中 。Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4你 们 这 些 淫 乱 的 人 （ 原 文 是 淫 妇 ） 哪 ， 岂 不 知 与 世 俗 为 友 就 是 与 神 为 敌 麽 ？ 所 以 凡 想 要 与 世 俗 为 友 的 ， 就 是 与 神 为 敌 了 。Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5你 们 想 经 上 所 说 是 徒 然 的 麽 ？ 神 所 赐 、 住 在 我 们 里 面 的 灵 ， 是 恋 爱 至 於 嫉 妒 麽 ？Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6但 他 赐 更 多 的 恩 典 ， 所 以 经 上 说 ： 神 阻 挡 骄 傲 的 人 ， 赐 恩 给 谦 卑 的 人 。But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7故 此 ， 你 们 要 顺 服 神 。 务 要 抵 挡 魔 鬼 ， 魔 鬼 就 必 离 开 你 们 逃 跑 了 。Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8你 们 亲 近 神 ， 神 就 必 亲 近 你 们 。 有 罪 的 人 哪 ， 要 洁 净 你 们 的 手 ！ 心 怀 二 意 的 人 哪 ， 要 清 洁 你 们 的 心 ！Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9你 们 要 愁 苦 、 悲 哀 、 哭 泣 ， 将 喜 笑 变 作 悲 哀 ， 欢 乐 变 作 愁 闷 。Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10务 要 在 主 面 前 自 卑 ， 主 就 必 叫 你 们 升 高 。Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
11弟 兄 们 ， 你 们 不 可 彼 此 批 评 。 人 若 批 评 弟 兄 ， 论 断 弟 兄 ， 就 是 批 评 律 法 ， 论 断 律 法 。 你 若 论 断 律 法 ， 就 不 是 遵 行 律 法 ， 乃 是 判 断 人 的 。Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12设 立 律 法 和 判 断 人 的 ， 只 有 一 位 ， 就 是 那 能 救 人 也 能 灭 人 的 。 你 是 谁 ， 竟 敢 论 断 别 人 呢 ？There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
13? ！ 你 们 有 话 说 ： 「 今 天 明 天 我 们 要 往 某 城 里 去 ， 在 那 里 住 一 年 ， 做 买 卖 得 利 。 」Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14其 实 明 天 如 何 ， 你 们 还 不 知 道 。 你 们 的 生 命 是 甚 麽 呢 ？ 你 们 原 来 是 一 片 云 雾 ， 出 现 少 时 就 不 见 了 。Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15你 们 只 当 说 ： 「 主 若 愿 意 ， 我 们 就 可 以 活 着 ， 也 可 以 做 这 事 ， 或 做 那 事 。 」For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16现 今 你 们 竟 以 张 狂 夸 口 ； 凡 这 样 夸 口 都 是 恶 的 。But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
17人 若 知 道 行 善 ， 却 不 去 行 ， 这 就 是 他 的 罪 了 。Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
