New Testament
John
The Book of John
John presents Jesus as the eternal Word made flesh, the Son sent by the Father to reveal God and give eternal life. Unlike the Synoptic Gospels, John structures his account around signs, dialogues, "I am" sayings, and extended teaching that draw readers into the mystery of Jesus' identity. The Gospel repeatedly asks readers to see beyond the surface. Water becomes wine, birth must come from above, bread points to life from heaven, sight exposes spiritual blindness, and death becomes the setting for resurrection glory. John shows that Jesus is not merely a teacher from God; He is the one who makes the Father known. John's stated purpose is evangelistic and pastoral: these things are written so that readers may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life in His name. Faith in John is not bare opinion but trusting reception of the Son who gives life.
