提多书第1章

¹神 的 仆 人 ， 耶 稣 基 督 的 使 徒 保 罗 ， 凭 着 神 选 民 的 信 心 与 敬 虔 真 理 的 知 识 ，Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

²盼 望 那 无 谎 言 的 神 在 万 古 之 先 所 应 许 的 永 生 ，In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

³到 了 日 期 ， 藉 着 传 扬 的 工 夫 把 他 的 道 显 明 了 ； 这 传 扬 的 责 任 是 按 着 神 我 们 救 主 的 命 令 交 托 了 我 。But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

⁴现 在 写 信 给 提 多 ， 就 是 照 着 我 们 共 信 之 道 作 我 真 儿 子 的 。 愿 恩 惠 、 平 安 从 父 神 和 我 们 的 救 主 基 督 耶 稣 归 与 你 ！To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

⁵我 从 前 留 你 在 革 哩 底 ， 是 要 你 将 那 没 有 办 完 的 事 都 办 整 齐 了 ， 又 照 我 所 吩 咐 你 的 ， 在 各 城 设 立 长 老 。For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

⁶若 有 无 可 指 责 的 人 ， 只 作 一 个 妇 人 的 丈 夫 ， 儿 女 也 是 信 主 的 ， 没 有 人 告 他 们 是 放 荡 不 服 约 束 的 ， 就 可 以 设 立 。If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

⁷监 督 既 是 神 的 管 家 ， 必 须 无 可 指 责 ， 不 任 性 ， 不 暴 躁 ， 不 因 酒 滋 事 ， 不 打 人 ， 不 贪 无 义 之 财 ；For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

⁸乐 意 接 待 远 人 ， 好 善 ， 庄 重 ， 公 平 ， 圣 洁 自 持 ；But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

⁹坚 守 所 教 真 实 的 道 理 ， 就 能 将 纯 正 的 教 训 劝 化 人 ， 又 能 把 争 辩 的 人 驳 倒 了 。Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

¹⁰因 为 有 许 多 人 不 服 约 束 ， 说 虚 空 话 欺 哄 人 ； 那 奉 割 礼 的 更 是 这 样 。For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

¹¹这 些 人 的 口 总 要 堵 住 。 他 们 因 贪 不 义 之 财 ， 将 不 该 教 导 的 教 导 人 ， 败 坏 人 的 全 家 。Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

¹²有 革 哩 底 人 中 的 一 个 本 地 先 知 说 ： 革 哩 底 人 常 说 谎 话 ， 乃 是 恶 兽 又 馋 又 懒 。One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

¹³这 个 见 证 是 真 的 。 所 以 ， 你 要 严 严 的 责 备 他 们 ， 使 他 们 在 真 道 上 纯 全 无 疵 ，This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

¹⁴不 听 犹 太 人 荒 渺 的 言 语 和 离 弃 真 道 之 人 的 诫 命 。Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

¹⁵在 洁 净 的 人 ， 凡 物 都 洁 净 ； 在 污 秽 不 信 的 人 ， 甚 麽 都 不 洁 净 ， 连 心 地 和 天 良 也 都 污 秽 了 。Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

¹⁶他 们 说 是 认 识 神 ， 行 事 却 和 他 相 背 ； 本 是 可 憎 恶 的 ， 是 悖 逆 的 ， 在 各 样 善 事 上 是 可 废 弃 的 。They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him , being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
