约伯记第35章

概览

以利户驳斥约伯「行义于他无益」的说法。他论证人的善恶并不改变神自身的存有——我们的罪伤害同胞，我们的义使他人得益，但那自足的创造主既不因二者增益，也不因二者减损。以利户接着解释为何有些呼求得不到回应：人在欺压下哀叫，却没有真正寻求那位赐人夜间歌声的造物主，所以骄傲空洞的恳求得不到答复。

¹以利户又说：Elihu spake moreover, and said,

²你以为有理，或以为你的公义胜於神的公义，Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?

³才说这与我有甚麽益处？我不犯罪比犯罪有甚麽好处呢？For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and , What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?

⁴我要回答你和在你这里的朋友。I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

⁵你要向天观看，瞻望那高於你的穹苍。Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.

⁶你若犯罪，能使神受何害呢？你的过犯加增，能使神受何损呢？If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?

⁷你若是公义，还能加增他甚麽呢？他从你手里还接受甚麽呢？If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

⁸你的过恶或能害你这类的人；你的公义或能叫世人得益处。Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art ; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

⁹人因多受欺压就哀求，因受能者的辖制（原文是膀臂）便求救，By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

¹⁰却无人说：造我的神在哪里？他使人夜间歌唱，But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

¹¹教训我们胜於地上的走兽，使我们有聪明胜於空中的飞鸟。Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

¹²他们在那里，因恶人的骄傲呼求，却无人答应。There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

¹³虚妄的呼求，神必不垂听；全能者也必不眷顾。Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

¹⁴何况你说，你不得见他；你的案件在他面前，你等候他罢。Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.

¹⁵但如今因他未曾发怒降罚，也不甚理会狂傲，But now, because it is not so , he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:

¹⁶所以约伯开口说虚妄的话，多发无知识的言语。Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
