Bible Theme
Justice
Summary
Justice in the Bible is God setting right what sin has bent — defending the weak, judging the oppressor, and ordering the world according to his righteousness. It flows from who God is: 'righteous in all his ways.' Far from cold or merely legal, biblical justice is deeply personal and protective, with special concern for the poor, the orphan, the widow, and the stranger.

Did You Know
In the Old Testament
God commanded Israel, 'Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue,' and through the prophets summarized true religion: 'do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God.' Isaiah called them to 'seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless.'
In the New Testament
Jesus announced his mission in justice's language: 'good news to the poor… liberty to the captives.' And the cross resolves justice's deepest problem — there God can be 'just and the justifier' of sinners, upholding righteousness while showing mercy.
Common Misconception
Some pit justice against the gospel, as if caring for the oppressed were a distraction from salvation. Others reduce justice to a political slogan. Scripture binds them together: the God who justifies sinners also commands his people to do justice — mercy received becomes mercy enacted.
Application
Don't look away from injustice you could help address. Use your voice, your resources, and your presence on behalf of those with less power — not to earn God's favor, but because you bear the image of a just God and have tasted his mercy yourself.
